There are more groups of Central American Squirrel monkeys isolated in gallery forests. To keep them alive, more ground in their neighbourhood should be afforested. Long-term planning for the isolated monkeys is focussing on a network via strips of land and some major steps in afforesting. Of course, the securing of habitats as well as ambitious afforesting with true rain forest is cost intensive, even more so as fencing and fire creeks must protect the new forest.

But not only the Squirrel monkeys will benefit from reforestation. There are a lot more species that need a natural environment to survive, and the more areas we can afforest and connect with each other, the more species and individuals will enjoy a long-term survival.

Cattle and the burning down of the pasture will threaten the new forest, fencing and fire creeks will protect it.
