The future will start in Volante

The first project is under control. After intensive fieldwork that went over years, the Panamese biologist Geminis Vargas has excellent knowledge in terms of the retreat areas of the remaining groups of Squirrel monkeys in Panama. In the neighbourhood of one of these groups 10,3ha of land have been acquired. In the year 2006 only remains of the former rain forest existed the rest was pasture. The gallery forest of a bordering river offers ideal wandering possibilities for the monkeys and other animals.
More than expected. Most inspiring is the surprisingly high number of animals that have survived here and will enjoy the new forest in the future. Apart from the Squirrel monkeys there are howlers, sloths, anteaters, bats, numerous amphibians and various species of reptiles. Also, more than 60 different kinds of birds have been reported, including rare species like the Fiery-billed-Aracari that even breeds on the estate.
