Life in the lowland rainforest
The climate in the lowland rainforest is humid and hot. During the rainy season the rivers overflow the banks and flood most of the forest. While the sun shines brightly over the canopies, the ground remains in haze and twilight. Though the forest is full of life, animals are difficult to discover. Most animals can be found in the canopies anyway, where the chirping and the singing of millions of insects and birds mixes with the calling of the howlers.

A nice twittering and whistling indicates the presence of Squirrel monkeys. But within the confusion of canopies and liana they remain invisible. Just some kind of a soft rain of bites of fruits, blossoms and branches will tell they must be there. Lowland rainforest is threatened most in Central America. Too much land was turned into plantations and pasture. The forests are almost gone, and therefore a unique world of animals as well.
